En la jornada inaugural Mireia Lapuerta ha debutado en un europeo absoluto. La masnouenses ha firmado una excelente competición en -48 kg, en una jornada en la que ha mostrado su buena adaptación a la categoría absoluta.

Lapuerta ha plantado en cuartos de final tras derrotar en los primeros combates a la belga salan y la séptima del ranking mundial, la portuguesa Catarina Costa.

En cuartos de final, la judoka masnouenses ha caído ante la serbia Stojadinov, con quien disputó el bronce en el europeo sub-23 hace dos semanas. En un combate muy igualado, que se ha decidido en la técnica de oro, Lapuerta ha terminado derrotada sin opción de poder acceder a semifinales.

Ya en la repesca, con aspiraciones de poder luchar por la medalla de bronce; Lapuerta ha dominado el combate ante la alemana Menz. La catalana ha llevado la iniciativa en todo momento en un combate que se ha alargado hasta la técnica de oro. Sin embargo, una desafortunada acción ha arrebatado la victoria de Lapuerta, que se ha quedado a las puertas del combate por la medalla de bronce y se ha tenido que conformar con una meritoria séptima posición.

Con la competición de hoy termina un mes intenso para Mireia Lapuerta, que tras la obligada parada debido a la COVID19 ha vuelto al tatami de competición en pleno estado de forma, disputando dos europeos en un mes.
